Install

Download Classic or System Theme from the download page. Open the disk image and double-click Install Notedpad. Confirm with Touch ID or your password. The installer copies the application into the Applications folder. If Gatekeeper blocks the first launch, Control-click the app and choose Open.

Apple Intelligence

In 1.2.0, use Edit → Apple Intelligence to Ask, find, replace, rewrite, proofread, summarize, or annotate. It runs on the Mac with Apple’s on-device models when they are available (macOS 26). It does not send your documents to a cloud chat service.

Command line

In the Classic (non–App Store) build, use App menu → Install notedpad Command Line Tool… then run notedpad file.txt.

Settings

Preferences live under Notedpad → Settings. Config files are in ~/Library/Application Support/Notedpad++.

Appearance

Classic edition: compact navy toolbar. System Theme edition: Tahoe chrome on macOS 26. The Dock icon follows Light and Dark while the app is running.
